shimmers of life

lights in the lake,
shimmers of life.
the wind kisses my neck
and whispers of sweet scents.
the crickets chirp, the cicadas sing —
each looking for meaning in love.
a turtle pokes his head up from the water’s edge.
a bee dives headfirst into the water lily,
gobbling up summer’s flavors.

my mind rests as the linden tree cries, “hush,”
through her swaying branches.
my body is welcomed home.
my soul rejoices just as the robin flies by.
